Walk-In Cooler and Freezer Shipping
A walk-in is not one piece of equipment. It is insulated panels, a door, shelving, and a refrigeration system that may be self-contained or split between the box and a remote condensing unit. We ship walk-in coolers and freezers as a set, labeled so the rebuild goes together in the order it came apart.
Disconnect and prep
Before the crew arrives, a refrigeration technician should recover the refrigerant and disconnect the lines, and an electrician should remove the power feed. Empty the box and shelving, and defrost a freezer fully so water is not trapped in the floor seams. Panels are labeled by position as they come down, and the cam-lock hardware is bagged with its panel group.
Crating and palletizing
Panels ship flat-stacked on pallets with edge protection and wrap so the foam core and locking edges are not crushed. The door, hardware, shelving, and evaporator coil travel on their own labeled skids. Condensing units ride upright and strapped, with coils protected from impact.
Liftgate and inside delivery
Panels are long and awkward, and loaded pallets are heavy. Tell us whether the delivery site has a dock or needs a liftgate, and how far inside the building the box is being rebuilt. We can deliver inside and stage panels at the build location so your installers are not hauling them from the curb.
Insurance
Our providers carry cargo insurance, and we can supply a certificate of insurance when a building or auction site requires one. Share the replacement value when you request a quote so the coverage matches the equipment.
Domestic and international
Walk-in kits move nationwide on freight sized to the panel count. For export, panels and refrigeration components are crated for ocean or air freight and our licensed customs broker handles the paperwork. Confirm voltage and refrigerant rules at the destination before you ship.
What to tell us before pickup
The more we know about the box, the cleaner the move. A walk-in with a remote condensing unit ships differently from a self-contained one, and a freezer with a heated floor needs different care than a cooler with a standard floor. Send us the following and we will plan the load around it.
- Interior dimensions and the approximate panel count
- Whether the refrigeration is self-contained or remote
- Door type, and whether there is a floor to ship
- Photos of the box, the compressor, and the loading area
Frequently asked questions
- Can you ship a walk-in cooler without taking it apart?
- Not in practice. Walk-ins are built from modular panels, so the box is taken down, shipped flat, and rebuilt at the new site.
- Who disconnects the refrigeration?
- A licensed refrigeration technician should recover the refrigerant and disconnect the lines. We coordinate pickup timing around that work.
- Do you rebuild the walk-in at the destination?
- We deliver and stage the equipment in place. Your licensed installers handle the rebuild and the final utility connections.
