Reporting damage

Most shipments arrive without a problem, but if something is damaged in transit, a few steps at delivery make the difference in getting a claim resolved. Here is what to do.

  1. 1

Note it on the delivery receipt

Before the driver leaves, write the damage on the delivery receipt or bill of lading and keep your copy. Signing a clean receipt makes damage much harder to document later, so record anything you see at the moment of delivery.

  2. 2

    Take photos right away

Photograph the damage from several angles, including the packaging, crating, or skid it arrived on and any visible label or spec plate. Clear photos taken at delivery are the single most useful thing for a claim.

  3. 3

Contact us as soon as possible

Reach out the same day if you can. The sooner we know, the sooner we can start the claim and coordinate with the carrier while the delivery is fresh.

  4. 4

    Send the supporting documents

Include the delivery receipt or bill of lading with the damage noted, your photos, a short description of what was damaged, and any repair or replacement estimate you already have. The more complete the packet, the faster the claim moves.
