Espresso Machine Shipping
A commercial espresso machine combines a pressurized boiler, delicate group heads, steam wands, and a lot of plumbing in a finely finished cabinet. It is valuable and easy to damage. We ship espresso machines in custom protection and treat them like the high-value equipment they are.
Disconnect and prep
Turn the machine off and let it cool. Shut off the water supply, disconnect water and drain lines, and unplug it. A licensed technician should handle plumbed-in and high-voltage machines. Remove portafilters, drip trays, and any loose parts.
Draining and descaling
Drain the boilers completely. Water left inside can leak, corrode, or freeze and crack parts in cold weather. Descale before shipping so mineral buildup does not settle in the pipes, and dry the interior.
Crating and palletizing
Espresso machines ship upright in a custom crate or a skid with rigid framing, wrapped to protect finish, gauges, group heads, and steam wands. Grinders and accessories are boxed separately. High-value machines are best crated rather than blanket-wrapped.
Liftgate and inside delivery
Machines are heavy for their size and awkward to carry. We handle the lift and can set them on the counter or cabinet. Tell us the model, and whether there are stairs or a tight entry to the cafe or bar.
Insurance
Our providers carry cargo insurance, and a certificate of insurance is available on request. Because espresso machines are expensive, share the replacement value so coverage fits.
Domestic and international
Espresso machines ship nationwide. For export, we crate them and our licensed customs broker handles paperwork. Check voltage, plug type, and water supply requirements for the destination.
What to tell us before pickup
Espresso machines and grinders are precision equipment, often with high resale value. Tell us the brand, the number of groups, and whether it is a plumbed-in or tank-fed machine. We pack to the replacement value, not the freight weight, and we plan more padding for a machine that is expensive to replace.
- Brand, model, and number of groups
- Plumbed-in or tank-fed, and the approximate weight
- Whether grinders or other accessories are shipping with it
- The replacement value for insurance purposes
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need to drain an espresso machine before shipping?
- Yes. Drain the boilers and lines and dry the machine so water cannot leak or freeze in transit.
- Is a crate necessary?
- For high-value or long-distance moves a crate is recommended. We will advise based on the model and route.
- Can you ship a grinder with it?
- Yes. Grinders and accessories ship boxed alongside the machine.
